Luxury Bedframes with Storage

Selecting a bed frame is about so much more than just the right colour for a luxury bed frame, and style. You must also take into account how well it works within the room of your bedroom. A small room cannot handle a large king-size bed; and conversely, one single bed will become lost in your spacious bedroom.

When it comes to finding the right bed frame size for your room, read our guide on bedroom sizes and consider its dimensions when determining how much space you have.

What is the average size of a bedroom?

There is no standard "average size" for a bedroom in the UK but generally, bedrooms should be at least 7ft x 10ft with ceilings around to go along of about seven feet and six inches tall -- comfortable enough or practically enough room to sleep too.

How big should a bedroom be?

Bedroom size in UK

The UK suggests bedroom size based excitingly enough on the mattresses that fit in them. Note: there is Not a common size for the room, This method above can give you information to have an idea about which bed would be the best choice.

How to measure bed size?

To gauge your bed size, use a tape measure and stretch it out from the head to the foot of the frame for its length. Straighten your tape along the floor underneath of both sides of the bed; then, measure from one side to the other: this is going to be x-value.

Determine the Height of Your BedThe height measurement for your bed is calculated from floor to top of the mattress. If you are considering a storage bed with drawers, carefully measure the dimensions of each drawer when extended out to be added with your width measurement.

Will a bed frame fit up the stairs?

Almost all of our beds and bedroom furniture are delivered flat-packed so it can make for an easy delivery. If your bed is delivered in parts then this will be no issue other than patience to have it fully fitted but if the main frame of your new wooden oak bed arrives with stairs leading up you need to make sure that one piece can go upstairs without any damage.

Check the width of your stairs (handrail to wall) with how wide you made your bed frame. And don't forget the width of any landings and hallways.

If there is a lift in your building, measure the open-door height and depth of the lift.

Too Wide Are Doorways?

For doors that do not get the benefit of turning space on either side of the hall, the width needs to be at least 100 mm greater than the bed frame. Also Depending on storage bed frame type, drawer beds may require more room. Be sure to leave about 30cm allocated between the outside borders of your bed and any surrounding walls if space is limited.

Moving a Bed Through the Door

Measure the Length and Width of the Doorway (Moving a Fully Assembled Bed) If you do plan to try moving your bed through any doorway fully assembled, go and measure how much space is actually available. Remember to calculate the height and some are wider than the bed spacing because of the headboard and footboard.

Also, measure the diagonal from top to bottom corners of your door frame because sometimes being able to angle it can make everything fit more easily.

If your headboard is too tall to fit through the doorway, you may need to disassemble the frame of the bed: Be Careful Not To Break The Mission Bed Frame

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of UK bed sizes are there?

1. Single: 90cm Wide x 190 cm Long

2. Double: 135cm x 190 cm

3. King Size: 150cm *200 cm

4. Super King Size: 180 cm wide x 200cm long

How are bed sizes measured?

Grab a tape measure to figure out how long and wide your mattress is. Put the mattress on a flat surface and measure from one side to the other to get its width. For the length, go from the top to the bottom. Keep the tape straight and at a 90-degree angle to your bed to get accurate bed measurements.

What do I need to know before measuring for the right size bed frame to fit the mattress?

When considering a bed frame always check the internal dimensions of the mattress and measure where your mattress goes. For more details see here: The internal width and length of the bed frame must be equal to or slightly larger than the mattress measurements that should fit on it comfortably. Be aware of not only the amount of space that's needed by footing and headboards but also how tall a frame can be.

Why is it important to measure the area around the bed and what's the best way to do it?

Let us measure the space around where you lie down so that way we allow enough area to move other furniture pieces like nightstands. To ensure this, measure the distance between your bed and other pieces of furniture or walls. A full 60 cm (2 feet) is best, as this will ensure unrestricted access and help foster comfort in the room.

How to measure the height of your bed going from the floor to the top of the mattress?

To measure the height of the bed from floor to top of the mattress place one end of tape on beside where the base is. Pull the tape measure straight up to the top of the mattress. Set the tape flat and at a right angle to the ground to get a more accurate measurement.
